Pete Vroman began playing guitar at the age of 13. Years
later, he was accepted to Berklee College of Music. While
studying in Boston he became good friends with John Petrucci,
John Myung, and Mike Portnoy. The trio went on to eventually
become Dream Theater. Pete studied alongside and jammed with
Petrucci during their time at Berklee, and beyond. It was a
unique and inspiring opportunity to study with an individual
who would become the most widely acknowledged guitar
virtuoso of his generation. Pete spent much of the 90’s
playing original music in the Austin, Texas music scene.
Having far too long a list of credentials to list here, Pete
has performed at many music conferences and festivals,
including many performances at the SXSW Music Conference. He
also taught guitar at the Austin School of Music, and
published many articles/books, including work on Eric
Johnson’s “Venus Isle” songbook. 1998 Pete was selected from
among many to teach at the National Guitar Summer Workshop's
first Austin summer session. He is selected to perform with
visiting clinician David Grissom (Guitarist with John
Mellencamp, Joe Ely, Dixie Chicks) Pete was also in the
running to play lead guitar on a 1994 Ozzy tour , when Zakk
Wylde decided to form his own group. Before joining forces
with Ten Year Vamp, Pete played guitar with the North
Country rock trio Velocity. |
